The purpose of this course is to study functions and develop skills necessary for the study of calculus. The Pre-calculus course includes analytical geometry and trigonometry. In Geometry, students explore geometric situations and deepen their explanations of geometric relationships, moving towards formal mathematical arguments as geometric experiences are formalized and extended.

Algebra II is an advanced course which allows students to learn content through hands-on activities, applications, group interactions, and the latest technology. Interactive examples help guide students’ journey through customized feedback and praise. Mathematical concepts are applied to everyday occurrences such as earthquakes, stadium seating, and purchasing movie tickets.

This course is designed to give students the skills and strategies to solve all kinds of mathematical problems. Algebra I emphasizes the importance of algebra in everyday life through hundreds of real-world examples. Assessments are designed to ensure that your understanding goes beyond rote memorization of steps and procedures.

Students read and respond to historically or culturally significant works of British literature that reflect and enhance their studies of history and social science. They conduct in-depth analyses of recurrent patterns and themes, structural features, and narrative literary elements and devices.

Students review Shakespeare's history as a man, actor, poet and playwright. They identify, analyze and discuss the tragic hero archetype as addressed in Shakespeare's plays. Students compare and contrast the structural elements and themes present in the comedies and the tragedies and interact with Shakespeare's tragic texts by reading and discussing excerpts and summaries.

Students learn about types of poems, ranging from haiku to ballad, and the key concepts and devices of poetry, such as meter and rhyme scheme. They are exposed to a variety of poems and learn about several poets – both classic and contemporary. Students read and evaluate poems for the various concepts specific to poetry as well as more global literary elements (i.e. theme, imagery, irony).
