Overview

 

One credit of Social Sciences is required at each grade level. Students can take any of the courses listed at any grade level, but this is the typical sequence.

 

  • 6th Grade - Ancient World History and Geography
  • 7th Grade - Modern World History and Geography
  • 8th Grade - United States History

 

Ancient World History & Geo

During this course, students will travel around the ancient world to discover when and how civilizations developed. The course will start with the early Stone Age and end with Ancient China. We will closely examine the daily life, issues, and accomplishments of each civilization. Through this study students will learn the political, social, and economic impact these civilizations had during their existence and on the contemporary world.

Learning about history allows people to see how far we have come and what awaits us on our path to the future. In this course, students will explore the history of the United States and analyze the cause and effect in historical events. They will investigate history by using the tools of a historian to examine the historical, geographic, political, economic, and sociological events that influenced the development of the United States.
